Sharp pains during pregnancy?

i just wanted to kow,cutious of what it was,but i am 3-4 weeks pregnant and lately i have been having a sharp pain in my private area.Does this happen?i was thinking of contractions but isnt this too ear;y?/Its not painful just like a sudden shock,Then it comes back later.Also should i avoid wearing tight clothes while pregnant?
