Track day should i build a trailor or towing dolly ?

hi i have been going to knockhill for trackdays lately and i have found the need for my own transporter i have all the ability to make my own but im confused about a couple of things concerning single axled towing dollys are they a legal way of transporting a vehicle from a to b or are they designed for recovery and does the vehicle being transported need to be road legal?
