How to import data from excel to Tally.ERP9?

I am working as freelance accountant. Some of my clients are using other softwares like logic, Busy UL, Marg Etc. It becomes bit difficult for me to generate Vat Returns and some of them are not even capable of generating vat returns so i have to manually enter their data into Tally.ERP9. Can some body help me to enter data from excel to tally. I have some idea that the excel data can be merged to Word in xml format but don't know how to. Thanks
